Ministries
Nursery
The nursery is a vital part of our ministry. It gives parents an opportunity to be able to sit under the preaching and teaching of God’s Word without distraction. This ministry also provides an infant or toddler a clean, safe and loving environment which is a peace of mind to the member or guest entrusting us with their child’s care.
Thus the sacrifice of nursery workers impacts almost every area of ministry. It cannot be overstated that qualified nursery workers have a vital role in the ministry at Calvary Baptist Church. We appreciate all those who willingly sacrifice so as to make this ministry effective.
The Nursery opens fifteen minutes before each service. When you bring your little one to the nursery please leave a diaper bag and any special instructions or needs of your child. Please note that this is a “Well” Nursery Ministry and therefore for the safety of the children, we ask that no sick children be brought to the nursery.
Sunday School
Each class is divided into grades for children to learn in smaller groups. Sunday school classes are available for three year olds through sixth graders. Great lessons, games, excitement, learning, crafts and songs are just a few words that describe the children’s Sunday school classes at Calvary Baptist Church.
Children’s Church
Children's church takes place during 'adult' church. While parents enjoy the encouraging music and challenging preaching of the morning service, three through kindergarten students can take part in a creative program specifically designed for them. Children's church is a time of fun and faith building. We hope that this class not only helps spiritually build your child, but that it used to be a blessing to the home.
This program includes active play games, crafts, Bible stories and snack time.
The Bible says in Prov 22:6 "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." What an amazing thought that we as a church can have such an influence on a young life, and what an incredible thought that that life can have an influence on this world!
Youth Ministry
The teen years can be confusing, difficult, and challenging! But they can also be awesome! Through Sunday classes, weekly outreach, monthly activities, annual trips, retreats, and programs, the teens at Calvary are challenged and equipped to live for Christ while they are in their youth. Each year, the teens can look forward to camps, trips, outreach events, fun activities, and many opportunities to grow in God’s Word. We do everything within our power to provide the Bible-based wisdom that teens need, combined with the friendly atmosphere that teens enjoy!
It’s our desire at Calvary Baptist Church that young people be saved, surrendered and start serving the Lord faithfully. Many youth departments across this land are just entertaining young people not really preparing young people for service to the Lord. Though we have a lot of fun in our Youth Ministry we are not all about fun; the main focus of this ministry is the spiritual not the trivial.
We never want to be a replacement for a parent, but rather be a parent’s teammate – working for the same goal. A young person surrounded by godly influences has a wonderful opportunity to become all that God wants them to be!
Reaching Out Minsitry
Reaching Out….Reaching Edmond is what we call the Outreach Ministry here at Calvary. The Word of God is very clear about our individual responsibility to bring others to a saving knowledge of The Lord Jesus Christ as well as the responsibility of the church to reach a lost and dying world.
The Bible says in Luke 14:23 - “Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.” Reaching out to the lost, getting them saved and bringing them to the house of God is not only honoring to our Lord and Savior, but it is also the life blood of a healthy church.
Reaching out…Reaching Edmond is more than the traditional soul-winning and evangelism outreach program. Reaching Out…Reaching Edmond is designed to reach out to the people of our city and outlying communities with the love of Jesus Christ. Christ’s earthly ministry was one of reaching people with the truth of The Gospel while exhibiting a caring love, compassion, and concern for their needs both physical and spiritual. Reaching Out…Reaching Edmond focuses on these aspects of caring love, compassion and concern for others needs involving a great prayer ministry in praying for others, showing them love, and sharing The Gospel. This ministry involves the following: door-to-door visitation, prayer ministry, home visitation and discipleship.
Days and Times:
Prayer Ministry, Door-to-door visitation and Home visitation — Thursday 7PM
Door-to-door visitation and Home visitation — Saturdays 10AM -12PM
Church-wide Outreach — 3rd Saturday of each month 10am -12:30pm (Lunch is provided)
Bus Ministry
Scores of children, adults, and families have been brought to church through the bus ministry. Many of these children are underprivileged, and the love of Christ that they receive through the bus ministry is the highlight of their week. This ministry is staffed by volunteer Christians who love people. To be a part or to help get someone a ride to church, call us today at 405-359-1044!
Music Ministry
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” Col 3:16-17
The music at Calvary Baptist Church reflects these verses. We believe that the music should be spiritual not carnal. The music should be an offering to the Lord not a performance by an individual or group.
We are blessed to have talented, willing servants who play instruments, bring special music, sing in the choir or other special groups all for the glory of God. We are glad to have a moving, lively song service without bringing the music of today into the church. We are proud to say that we stand by and enjoy the old songs of the faith straight from the hymn book. In short, the music at Calvary Baptist Church should uplift, encourage, and direct the hearts of the listeners toward God, but above all – it should please God.
